PETERSEN MEDIA- Just a week after picking up a win in his first outing with his D&B Goodyer Developments team, Ian Madsen and company were in action at the Premier Speedway on Saturday nigh and picked up a fourth place finish.
“Our goal was to get good laps at the speedway before the Classic, and I believe we did just that,” Madsen said.
With 62 cars on hand with the same goal in mind, Madsen got his night off to a very nice start as he timed in 12th fastest on a track that was continuing to deteriorate during the qualifying session.
Following some track prep between time trials and heat race action, the track became tough to pass on, as the St Marys, NSW native pocketed a pair of fifth place heat race finishes, putting him in the second row of the B main.
Continuing to play with things to get Madsen comfortable, things went well in the semi, as Madsen was able to show some speed as he powered his way into the lead, and ultimately the win, as he transferred the D&B Goodyer Developments/MK Excavating/Adornato Sand and Gravel machine into the 30-lap feature event.
Lining up 13th in the feature event, Madsen had his work cut out of him against a very stout field, but just as he did all year, Madsen went toe-to-toe with some of the best competition around, and moved forward.
On a track that was very fast, Madsen was able to slice through the field aboard the Dave Sharman prepared machine, and claw his way to a fourth place finish.
“It was so tough to pass in the feature, I can’t thank Dave Sharman enough for working so hard through the night to give us a great car,” Madsen said. “We were a little off all night, but they worked hard, and this is exactly why we showed up here. The Classic is a race I would love to win for myself, as well as this entire team, and Dave and Belinda Goodyer have certainly gave us the equipment to do so.”
Madsen would like to thank D&B Goodyer Developments, MK Excavating, Adornato Sand & Gravel, Watsons Express Transport, Lucas Oil, QSS Speedway Spares, Revolution Racegear, Oval Express, and Dyden Signs for their support.
