PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen put together quite the weekend at the Knoxville Raceway and the Huset’s Speedway as he beat the All Star’s at Huset’s on Sunday night after finishing second at Knoxville just one night prior.

“It was great to finally get two nights of racing in, and get a night in at Knoxville,” Madsen said. “We had a really good car both nights, and were so close to getting two wins on the weekend.”

At Huset’s on Sunday night, Madsen started his night off by timing the Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply entry in eight fastest putting himself on the front row of his heat race, which he won.

By way of winning his heat, the St. Marys, NSW driver earned a spot in the Dash draw, and as fate would have it, he pulled the number one pill, putting the Royal Flooring/Greenland Homes of Iowa/QTC No. 18 machine on the pole.

Jumping out to an early lead in the dash, Madsen was able to stretch his lead out to nearly a straight away, as he went on to pick up the win, and put his Rider Racing Engines/JRS Excavating/Brown and Miller Racing Solutions machine on the pole for the feature event.

Taking Doug Clark’s green flag on the second attempt at starting the race, Madsen got off to a great start as he had the Big Game Tree Stands duo of Sammy Swindell and Craig Dollansky chasing after him.

Despite a handful of cautions sprinkled through the race, Madsen was strong on all of his restarts and was able to keep Swindell, Dollansky, and a charging Rico Abreu at bay.

After taking the white flag, the yellow flag flew, setting up a green-white-checkered finish, and with the vision of getting passed on the last lap still fresh in his mind, Madsen was masterful during the final sprint to the finish, as he picked up the huge win at the Huset’s Speedway.

“It is great to be back up here celebrating a win,” Madsen said. “Everyone has worked so hard on this team, and Huset’s is a track we have been really good at over the last year.”

On Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Madsen started his night out by timing in 10th fastest in time trials.

Finishing third in his heat race, Madsen found himself on the front row of the feature event, and promptly jumped into the second spot when the green flag waived, as he battled with Wayne Johnson.

On the fourth lap, Madsen found the opening he was looking for, and took the lead, and began pulling away from the field, until the caution flew on the seventh lap.

Back to work, Madsen continued set the pace as Justin Henderson and Johnson chased after him, and closed up on him as they got into traffic.

Taking the white flag, Madsen was in thick traffic, and as he tried to navigate his way through it, Justin Henderson found the opening he needed, and Madsen crossed the stripe in the second spot.

“Hats off to Justin Henderson and his team,” Madsen said. “When you are in traffic like that, sometimes it is better to be in second place, but we had a great car, and were more than capable of grabbing the win. It was great to be at Knoxville, and great to be so fast here.”
