PETERSEN MEDIA- Picking the SCCT series up for the second and final time in Antioch, CA on Saturday night, Mason Moore would dodge some carnage in the feature event to score a 10th place finish.

“We started pretty far back in the feature event on Saturday night, and stayed out of trouble and worked forward to grab a Top-10 finish,” Mason Moore said.

Timing the Geico/Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Twisted Tea backed No. x1 entry in second fastest in his qualifying group, Moore start and finish third in his heat race and transfer into the 40-lap feature event.

Not qualifying for the Dash, Moore would find the Levin’s Auto Supply/Garth Moore Insurance/LRB Race Products entry in the 17th starting position in the feature.

Starting deep in the fray, Moore would pick up a couple of spots in the opening 10-laps before an array of cautions and stoppages would plague the rest of the race.

Using restarts to his advantage, Moore would soon find himself in the Top-10 as an open red flag was needed on the 20th lap. With cautions continuing to hamper the flow of the race, time would soon become an issue as officials would begin shaving laps off the feature event.

Continuing to run in the 10th spot, the 11pm curfew would soon become an issue and the checkered flag would waive on the 25th lap, and Moore would end his night with his sixth Top-10 of the season with the F&F Racing team.

“It was a weird feature,” Moore added. “We really couldn’t get going because we’d get a few laps in and then the caution flag seemed to come out. It was one of those nights that you start pretty far back and are happy to avoid some of the tangles and come away with a decent finish.”

Moore would like to thank Geico, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Twisted Tea, Levin’s Auto Supply, Garth Moore Insurance, LRB Race Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Sierra Single Ply, Lucas Oil, RPI, and Encore Catering for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will be back in action on Saturday night as they head to Calistoga Speedway with SCCT.
