Mason Moore Assumes Silver Dollar Speedway Point Lead With Second Place Finish on 4th of July

0206

PETERSEN MEDIA- Having a great Independence Day week competing with Brian Cannon Motorsports, Mason Moore would finish third on the third at Marysville Raceway before a second place finish on July 4th at Silver Dollar Speedway saw him take over the points lead.

“It was a really good week for our team,” Moore said. “Wednesday night we were really good in Chico, CA, but we just couldn’t find a way past Kyle Hirst. We ended up second and will take the point lead into this week.”

Timing the Brian Cannon Motorsports/Mason Moore Racing entry in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials, the Princeton, CA driver would assume the point in heat race competition.

Getting the jump, Moore would pick up the very important win as it would make him eligible for the redraw where a four put him in the second row to start the 25-lap Independence Day feature event.

When the race came to life, Moore would jump into third as the field raced into turns one and two. Chasing after Kenny Allen for second, Moore would make his move on the fourth lap as he then set his sights on race leader, Kyle Hirst.

With Hirst parked on the bottom where the moisture was, Moore would chase after him looking for a way around him to take over the top spot. Waiting in the wings, Hirst would bobble and Moore would look to pounce as he shot under him but just did not have enough momentum to clear him and execute the pass.

Hanging on to second with the checkered flag flying, Moore was able to take over the track points lead heading into this Friday night’s event.

Tuesday night saw Moore and company take advantage of an opportunity to get another night of racing in at Marysville Raceway. Timing the Mike’s Harder Lemonade/Garth Moore Insurance/FK Rod Ends entry in third fastest in time trials.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, ‘Primetime’ would make some swift moves and find himself out front as he would go on to collect the win and put himself in the nightly redraw where the seven pill put him in the fourth row.

Settling into fifth when the race came to life after a pile up at the rear of the field, Moore would continue go to work as he looked for a spot on the podium. Having speed at the track in limited appearances thus far in 2018, Moore would continue to trend as he worked forward.

Taking advantage of a couple of late restarts, Moore would surge into the third position where he would finish marking two podium finishes for the week.

“It was great to get this Brian Cannon Motorsports car up front where it belongs,” Moore added. “Everyone works extremely hard on our race team and it is great to see it pay off.”

Brian Cannon Motorsports would like to thank Mike’s Harder Lemonade, Garth Moore Insurance, FK Rod Ends, and Mountain Mikes Pizza for their support in 2018.
