PETERSEN MEDIA: James McFadden teamed up with Factory Kahne and Kaeding Performance over the weekend, and it proved to be a good fit, as McFadden picked up the win during the Cotton Classic in what was his first visit to the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.
Piloting the Factory Kahne/Kaeding Performance No. 4 machine, McFadden quickly adapted as he used his FK Zero Gas Shocks to time in fifth fastest.
After running second in the B Main, the Brisbane, QLD driver lined up ninth for the 30-lap feature event, and quickly began surging his way forward on the tricky Thuderbowl Raceway surface.
Getting a feel for the bottom of the speedway in the early laps, McFadden searched around the speedway, as he took a liking the to the cushion, as he had a full head of steam around Shane Golobic and Evan Suggs.
Getting into the sixth spot, McFadden then set his sights on Jonathan Allard, as he inched closer to the Top-Five.
A restart on the 16th lap, saw McFadden make a huge move out of turn four that saw him get around Bud Kaeding and Sean Becker as he took over the third spot, and chased after DJ Netto and Kyle Hirst.
A lap 21 restart, saw McFadden power into the lead, which he would never relinquish, as he was brilliant in the closing laps, as he parked the Factory Kahne/Kaeding Performance machine in victory lane.
“I am pretty pumped to get a win in California, and can’t wait to get back to work during the Trophy Cup,’ McFadden added. “I also have to thank Factory Kahne and Kaeding Performance for this opportunity. It is great to drive a great car.”
With McFadden scoring the Cotton Classic win the FK Zero Gas Shocks, other drivers utilizing FK Shocks also did well, as second finishing Willie Croft, third finishing Bud Kaeding, and fourth finishing Brent Kaeding all had Factory Kahne shocks bolted on their machines.
