PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to lead the point standings at Placerville Speedway, Michael Faccinto and the F&F Racing team continue to knock on the door for their first win of the season as they scored a second-place finish back on Tuesday night.
“The F&F Racing team has a really good balance at Placerville Speedway right now and it shows night in and night out,” Faccinto said. “We are getting closer to that first win of the season each night and I can’t wait until we finally break through.”
Tuesday night, the F&F Racing team was in action for the 4th of July celebration at Placerville Speedway, and Faccinto opened the night up by timing the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Precision Civil Engineering backed mount in 2nd fastest in time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Faccinto pocketed a third-place finish which was good enough to keep him eligible for the redraw based on his qualifying efforts.
Pulling the four pill, Faccinto wasted no time working his way forward. Jumping into third when the race came to life, Faccinto made a lap two move to propel himself into second as he began his race long pursuit of leader, Tony Gomes.
With the flow of the race hindered by numerous stoppages, Faccinto used each restart to apply pressure for the race lead.
Taking a couple shots, Faccinto simply could not figure out a way to get by Gomes before the leader raced away in clean air.
Keep him in striking distance, Faccinto was able to close in on him in traffic, but on this night he settled for a second place finish in front of a large crowd that was on hand to celebrate Independence Day.
“We are right there, and I think the wins will come if we continue to put ourselves in good position as we have been,” Faccinto added. “Thank you again to all the guys for their hard work.”
