Montgomery Pockets Runner-Up Finish to Open Season with F&F Racing

PETERSEN MEDIA- Kaleb Montgomery and F&F Racing kicked their new venture off over the weekend in Chico, CA. Having an extremely strong weekend, Montgomery would pick up a second-place finish on Friday night before a part failure on Saturday ended their weekend prematurely.

“It was a great first weekend in the F&F car,” Kaleb Montgomery said. “There is no doubt about how fast our car is, and I think we can be even better once Alan Bradway and I find our middle ground together.”

Kicking their season off at the John Padjen Classic Silver Cup over the weekend, Friday night saw Montgomery time in second fastest in his qualifying group aboard the Bushey Financial Services/C&H Motor Parts/Lucas Oil backed No. x1 machine.

Lining up on the outside of the front row in their heat race, the Templeton, CA driver took advantage of the outside line and rocketed off to the early lead. Pacing the field over the course of the heat race, Montgomery would pick up the win and earn a berth in the all-important Top-Eight redraw.

Pulling the one pill, Montgomery would lead the field to green as he looked to start his tenure with F&F Racing in victory lane.

When the race came to life it was fellow front row starter, Tyler Thompson getting the jump however an opening lap caution would set the field up for a complete restart. The second attempted start saw Montgomery again slip into the second position, but that would change on a lap three restart.

Getting the jump, Montgomery would jump out to the lead as he opened a comfortable gap up as he soon found himself in traffic by the 11th lap. Continuing to lead the way, a lap 19 caution would bunch the field back up and put Montgomery on the front row alongside Justin Sanders for the double file restart.

While he would get the early jump, Sanders would have the momentum through one and two, and would get around Montgomery as he slipped back to second. Keeping pace with Sanders, Montgomery would be unable to get back to the leader and challenge for the win as he capped F&F Racing’s opening night off with a second-place finish.

Saturday night got off to just as strong of a start for the team as Montgomery would earn fast time honors in his group on this night. Running second in his heat, Montgomery would transfer into the 10-car Dash where his ninth-place finish lined him up in the fifth row for the 35-lap feature event.

Running in the 10th position as the race came to life, Montgomery would endure a broken rear torsion stop on the race’s eighth lap and it would bring his weekend to an early end.

“I was really happy with how we all worked together, and I can’t wait to see what this car is capable of in two weeks at the Placerville Speedway opener,” Montgomery added. “I also really want to thank everyone at F&F Racing for their hard work all weekend long.”

F&F Racing would like to thank Bushey Financial Services, C&H Motor Parts, Lucas Oil, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Pacific Highway Rentals, PitStopUSA, FVP, CRV Carbon Solutions, American River Overhead Door, All Pro Heads, Engler, and Don Ott Racing Engines for their support.

ON TAP: F&F Racing will be back in action on March 19th at Placerville Speedway.
