Myers Jr Nets KWS Top-5 in Hanford, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his weekend in central California competing with the King of the West Series, Joel Myers Jr would have a very strong weekend in 410ci action as he picked up a fourth-place finish on Friday night in Hanford, CA before a late race incident relegated him to a 12th place finish on Saturday night in Bakersfield, CA.

“It was a really good weekend for our race team,” Joel Myers Jr said. “We figured some things out to get our motors a little better, and I felt really comfortable all weekend long.”

Friday night the weekend got underway with a return trip to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA where scoring issues would cause the series to scrap time trials. Going to a dual heat race format, the Sebastopol, CA youngster would charge from seventh and garner a fourth-place finish aboard the All About Fire Protection/Dirt Dudes/PitStopUSA backed No. 46jr machine.

The second heat race would see ‘Jr’ turn in a very strong performance as he left the field in his wake as he raced to the win. With a strong point total after both heats, Myers Jr earned a berth into the Dash where he would ultimately finish seventh.

By way of the seventh-place finish in the Dash, Myers Jr would take the green flag from the seventh starting position in the 30-lap Anthony Simone Feature event on a very hooked up and fast Keller Auto Speedway surface.

When the race came to life, Myers Jr was able to make a couple of nice to get into fourth as he was able to get by All Star Circuit of Champions regular, Cory Eliason. As Myers and Eliason battled, Myers would lose the fourth spot late in the race as Eliason returned the favor on him.

Back in fifth in the closing laps, Myers would take advantage of an issue that Bud Kaeding had, and it would propel him to a fourth-place finish.

Saturday night the series traveled further south as they invaded Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, CA the penultimate event of the 2021 season.

Getting off to a tough start in time trials, Myers Jr would get timed in 17th fastest. On another narrow surface, Myers Jr would finish fifth in his heat race, and it would line him up 16th in the feature event.

With most of the field using the low side of the speedway, Myers would make some hay on the high side as he would work his way into the Top-10. Clawing his way forward, the 15-year-old would get up into the eighth position as he battled with All Star Champion, Tyler Courtney.

A couple of late issues would get Myers would of shape and it would result in him slipping back to finish 12th.

“Saturday night we were able to do some things that nobody else was trying and we were making up a lot of ground,” Myers said. “Unfortunately we ran into a couple of issues and we slipped back to finish 12th.”

Joel Myers Jr Racing would like to thank All About Fire Protection, Dirt Dudes, Amerikote, PitStopUSA, Y2K Gaming, Shark Racing Engines, Lucas Oil, Vaider, L Delo Designs, Factory Kahne Shocks, Walker Performance Filtration, ShopRico.Com, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Kaeding Performance, and Triple X Race Co. for their continued support.
