Reutzel Lands on Pair of Podiums During Bristol Throwdown

PETERSEN MEDIA- One of the marquee events on the 2021 schedule came and went over the weekend, and when the dust settled on the Bristol Throwdown, Aaron Reutzel and the Roth Motorsports team came away with two podium finishes.

“It was pretty cool to run Bristol and have the success we had” Reutzel said. “Friday night I thought we had the car to beat in traffic, but a late yellow killed all of our momentum and gave Gravel an open track and he was extremely good in open track. Sunday we weren’t quite as good as we were on Friday, but to get back on the podium despite the mechanical issues we had really is big momentum builder for us, and that is huge out on the road.”

Friday night saw Reutzel time the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Col./HR Livestock Transportation mount in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Racing to a third-place finish in his Drydene heat race, Reutzel would grid the field from the ninth starting spot in the 25-lap feature event. When the feature went green, the Clute, TX driver was quick to the high scary side a ‘The Last Great Coliseum.”

Once on the top shelf, Reutzel began to make up a ton of ground as he marched the Roth Motorsports entry forward. As the laps clicked down, and the leaders raced in traffic, Reutzel was coming with a head of steam as he worked into second and began to chase after race leader, David Gravel.

Looking like he may have the momentum to get by Gravel in traffic, an untimely yellow flag flew and halted Reutzel’s progress and took the leaders out of traffic. When racing resumed, Gravel got away from Reutzel, though he was able to finish second on this night.

With rain pushing the Bristol Throwdown finale to Sunday afternoon, Reutzel continued to show speed at the famed high banked ½ mile as he timed in sixth fastest in qualifying.

Picking up a heat race win in convincing fashion, Reutzel’s sixth place finish in the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash would place him in the third row for the final feature event of the weekend.

Able to work his way forward during Sunday’s feature, Reutzel looked to be primed for another Top-Five as he ran in fourth late in the race. Having a little luck on his side, Reutzel would end up picking a position late and capping his weekend off with a third-place finish.

“Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for their continued support,” Reutzel said. “We overcame a lot this weekend, and as I said, huge boost for us to get out of Bristol with a couple of podium runs.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, All Star Performance, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Triple X Race Co., AL Drive Lines, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Wings Unlimited, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, and Team Simpson for their support in 2021.

ON TAP: Reutzel and Roth Motorsports will be at Jacksonville Speedway on Thursday night before a traveling to I-70 Motorsports Park on Friday and Saturday.
