Reutzel Runs 2nd at Cotton Bowl Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending the weekend racing in his native Texas, Aaron Reutzel would turn in a solid weekend that saw him flirt with a perfect Friday night before finishing second and charging his way to an eighth-place finish on Saturday.

“Friday night it felt really good to get back on the podium, but I was disappointed in myself for not getting us a win,” Reutzel said. “You have to be perfect to win these races, and I just made a couple of bad decisions and we got beat.”

Friday night at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX, Reutzel came out swinging as he timed the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation backed No. 83 machine in quickest in qualifying time trials establishing a new track record at the speedway.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Clute, TX native continued to showcase a dominant car as he would pick up the win and make his way into the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash where the one pill put him on the pole of that event.

Just as he did in the Dash, Reutzel was hard on the throttle and got the jump and simply never looked back. Winning the Dash, Reutzel sat on the pole for the feature event as he would chase after his second World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series win of the year.

When the feature event came to life, Reutzel continued his strong night as he would pace the field in the opening 12 laps and looked extremely strong out front doing so.

An early restart, however, would see two-time and defending series champ, Brad Sweet get around Reutzel and take over the race lead. Running in second as he chased after Sweet, things got interesting on the 25th lap as it turned into a three-car battle for the top spot with Sheldon Haudenschild entering the fray.

As Haudenschild would get the lead, Reutzel would also get by Sweet as he remained in the second position. Unable to catch Haudenschild in the final 10-lpas, Reutzel closed out what was still a very impressive night with a second-place finish.

Back in action on Saturday night, a late draw for time trials saw Reutzel and company time in 14th fastest in time trials before finishing fifth in heat race competition.

Moving into the feature event, Reutzel would take the green flag from the 14th starting position. On the slick Cotton Bowl Speedway surface, Reutzel would slowly work his way forward as he moved into the Top-10. As the laps clicked on, Retuzel would pick up a few more positions as he capped his weekend off with an eighth place finish.

“Our car feels phenomenal right now, and that is a testament to how hard these Roth Motorsports guys work,” Reutzel added. “It was a decent weekend for us after a tough one last week, and hopefully we can keep it rolling as we head to Missouri this weekend. Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for their continued support and allowing us to compete against the best.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, All Star Performance, FK Rod Ends, Vahlco Wheels, Triple X Race Co., AL Drive Lines, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Wings Unlimited, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, and Team Simpson for their support in 2021.
