PETERSEN MEDIA- After a month long break in the King of the West Schedule, Ryan Bernal and Tarlton Motorsports reunited at Kern County Raceway Park where the Hollister, CA driver had a very good run that culminated with a third place finish.

“It was great to get back with the Tarlton Motorsports team and have a good night” Ryan Bernal said. “I am hoping we can take some momentum from a third place finish and run well at Hanford this weekend, and Stockton in November.”

Bernal kicked Saturday night off by timing the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum backed No. 21 mount in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Hollister, CA driver would battle hard with Bud Kaeding for the race’s top spot. Coming up a little short, Bernal would finish second but still had enough points to garner a berth into the nightly Dash.

Picking up a third place finish in the Dash, Bernal would take the green flag from the third starting position for the series’ final feature event of the year at Kern County Raceway Park.

On a surface that offered up a little bit of everything, Bernal would slip back to fifth when the green lights flashed on initially. As the field continued to jockey for position, Bernal would soon move into fourth as he raced his way past Chase Johnson heading into turns three and four.

As the laps continued to click off in quick fashion, the leaders would find themselves running through the rear of the field. Making quick decisions, Bernal continued to run in fourth, until the 19thlap when he was able to shoot under Willie Croft to take over third.

Once in third, Bernal wasn’t falling off the podium. Razor sharp over the final 10 circuits, Bernal would accept the checkered flag with a third place finish as he continues to battle hard for the series’ Rookie of the Year honors.

“I can’t thank Paul Baines and the guys enough for their continued hard work and giving me a good car time and time again,” Bernal said. “I also have to thank the Tarlton family for their continued support and giving me an opportunity to run the 410 winged car this year. Like I said, it was a good night and hopefully I can use this momentum heading into Hanford, CA this weekend.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, NOS Energy Drink, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 26, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 9, Top 10’s: 17.
