PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard the winged 360 as well as the non winged 360, Ryan Bernal had a very strong weekend as he picked up his seventh win of 2015 on Saturday night at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA a night after running second with the Duinkerken Farms King of Kings 360’s at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA.
“It was an awesome weekend for this entire Mike Phulps Motorsports team, and I cannot thank them enough for their hard work night in and night out,” Ryan Bernal said.
Saturday night at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA Bernal kicked his night off by timing the Metal Works/Keizer Wheels/DMI backed No. 56 machine in sixth quickest in time trials, putting him in the second row of his heat race.
From his fourth starting spot, Bernal would jump into the third spot early in heat race action as he battled with Bud Kaeding for the second spot, and fended off Brady Bacon who challenged him for third. Able to hold the third spot, Bernal would ultimately find himself on the pole for the 30-lap feature event.
Sharing the front row with Tristan Guardino, Bernal was mash the throttle when the green lights flashed and storm into the lead as he has done some many times at the high-banked facility.
Out front Bernal was flawless as he hit his marks lap after lap, as Danny Faria, Jr moved into the second spot and began to chase after him. A week after having suspension trouble plague him, Bernal would not be denied on this night as he led all 30-laps to pick up the win in convincing fashion.
Friday night, Bernal and company were in action at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA for the opening round of the ‘Battle For The Milk Can’ winged 360 series.
Returning to the track for the first time since his triumphant win earlier in May, Bernal got his night started off by timing his machine in ninth fastest. From the second row of his heat race, the Hollister, CA wheelman would work into the second spot and would find himself on the front row of the 30-lap feature event.
Sharing the front row with DJ Netto, the driver who he passed for his first winged win a couple of weeks back, Bernal would settle into the second spot as the race came to life on the extremely technical racing surface.
Keeping Netto in his sights, Bernal would not make a bid for the lead until the caution flew late in the race. With Netto spinning his tires, Bernal was able to close in on the race leader, and the duo hooked up in an entertaining battle for the top spot in the race’s closing stages.
Sliding each other back and forth, Bernal would come up short as he would close his night with a second place finish.
“We are getting really consistent in the winged car, and it is awesome to become a contender on a nightly basis,” Bernal added. “We have been really good in the non winged car, and it was great to shake some bad luck from a week ago, and get back into victory lane.”
Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2014 season.
