Ryan Robinson Charges to Seventh Place Finish with SCCT

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking a week off from racing this last weekend, Ryan Robinson and the Weiher Racing team returned to action on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA where Robinson would overcome a tough start to his night and race his way to a seventh-place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“We didn’t qualify that great at all,” Ryan Robinson said. “I didn’t hit my marks, our car wasn’t where we needed it to be and it put us in a pretty big hole, but we have a good team, and we were able to dig ourselves out of it by the end of the race.”

Timing the Mako Farms, Inc./LP Holdings/RPI backed sprinter in sixth fastest in his qualifying group, Robinson would line up sixth on the grid in heat race competition. With 26 cars checked in, Robinson would just need to finish in the Top-Five to avoid the ‘B’.

Despite a heavy mist moving into the area as heat races headed to the track, Robinson would make a big move on the locked down surface to start things off as he would go from sixth to third.

Holding on to the third-place finish, Robinson would safely move into the feature though he would have his work cut out for himself as he would take the green flag from the 13th starting position.

On the heavy and tacked up surface, Robinson had his elbows up as he worked the outside grove as raced towards the Top-10.

Pulling numerous tear offs lap after lap in his charge to the front, Robinson would move into the Top-10 by the 16thlap.

As he continued to work his way forward, Robinson would eventually find himself out of tear offs after starting the night with 34 on his helmet. Doing what he could in the final handful of laps, Robinson would settle into the seventh spot, and cap his night with a Top-10 result.

“I felt really good in our heat race, and Todd and the guys gave me a good car in the feature,” Robinson added. “We came from mid pack, and I went through a ton of tear offs. I may have been able to pick up a couple more positions, but as I ran out of tear offs, I did what I could to get to the finish line.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms, Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision, Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their support in 2021!

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-7, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-6

ON TAP: Robinson and Weiher Racing will be back in action this weekend in Chico, CA.
