Ryan Robinson Goes Back to Back at Marysville Raceway As He Claims ‘Tribute to Gold Cup’

PETERSEN MEDIA: Running a non-points show on Wednesday night as an ode to the postponed Gold Cup Race of Champions in nearby Chico, CA, Ryan Robinson was victorious again at Marysville Raceway as he made a bold move on an early restart to take over the lead which he would never relinquish.

“Marysville was great to us again,” Ryan Robinson said. “Todd, Leroy, and Timmy put together such a good car, they really make it easy to drive and it is great to get another win.”

Timing the Mako Farms, Inc./LP Holdings/RPI backed no. 14w machine in seventh fastest in time trials amongst the 30 cars checked into the pit area, Robinson would hook up in an entertaining battle with Stephen Ingraham that would see him get to the top spot and pick up the win.

Making his way into the redraw, the five-pill put the Forest Hill, CA driver in the third row to start the 25-lap feature event. When the race went green, Robinson would run in the fifth spot during a quick green flag run.

Searching around the track under the yellow, Robinson would buzz around the top to see if there was anyting up there just in case he had to use that line on the restart.

As the green flag was displayed back to the field, the top four all went to the bottom, and Robinson would keep his machine on the high side of the speedway.

As the lead duo got together in turns one and two and stacked the field up, Robinson was hard on the throttle up top and took the race lead as the field stayed under power and the green stayed out.

On the hooked-up Marysville Raceway surface, Robinson would dip back to the bottom groove where he would stay put for the rest of the race. While Andy Forsberg gave chase in the closing laps, Robinson’s car was just better off the corner at both ends of the track and it would aid him to him fifth win of the season.

“Under that yellow I was just searching around seeing if I could get anyone in front of me to try the top and get them off the bottom as it was the dominant line,” Robinson explained. “When everyone dipped low, I went up top to see if it would stick and with the leaders tangling, I came out in the lead and never looked back. I hope we can keep this momentum up as the season starts to come to a close in Nor Cal.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms, Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision, Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Papa Chuck, Threadz Design, JDS Tile & Construction, Inc., and Morrison Concrete for their support in 2020!
