Ryan Robinson Hard Charges In Merced, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Despite passing being at a premium during Saturday’s feature event in Merced, CA, Ryan Robinson was one of the few who was able to make up ground as he advanced from his 21st starting position to finish ninth and earn PitStopUSA Hard Charger honors.

“First off I want to thank Moxie Mechanical for lending us an engine to use for the night,” Ryan Robinson said. “We had a few adjustments to make to it after qualifying, and then in the heat race went the wrong direction on our set up and put ourselves in a hole.”

Timing the Mako Farms Inc./LP Holdings/RPI backed No. 14w entry in fourth fastest in his qualifying group with 52 cars on hand on this night, Robinson would lien up third in his heat race.

On an extremely slick surface, Robinson struggled to make grip on the ¼ mile bullring and slipped back through the field. Finishing sixth, the Foresthill, CA native would be forced into the ‘B’ for one final shot at advancing into the 35-lap feature event.

Making an array of changes leading into the semi, Robinson was extremely pleased with his entry as he was able to pick up the win convincingly, after starting sixth, and kept his night alive as he punched his ticket into the ‘A’.

With a full-fledged track rework taking place prior to the ‘A’, Robinson and company made changes best on their guess of what the track would do and took their position in the 11th row to start the ‘A’.

Though the reworked surface was fast, and many in the middle of the field could run side-by-side with others, but struggled to pass, though Robinson didn’t have those struggles.

When the race came to life, Robinson had a great start as he quickly jumped into the 18th position before taking over 16thon the second lap.

With the laps clicking off extremely fast on the hooked up Merced Speedway, Robinson was just as fast as he reached the Top-15 in just seven laps.

Continuing to march to towards the Top-10 in what ended up being a 27-lap green flag run to open the race, Robinson had climbed 10 spots when he could finally catch his breath during the lone stoppage of the ‘A’.

Jumping into 10th when the race went back to green, Robinson would briefly slip back to 11th the following lap before moving into ninth on the 32nd lap, where he would go on to finish and capture the PitStopUSA Hard Charger Award.

“Big thanks to my dad, and everyone on the Weiher Racing team for their hard work all night long,” Robinson said. “I also want to thank the Weiher Family for letting us bring their equipment out to race while they had other obligations on Saturday night.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Pettibone Builders, Sipes CC, The Holman Family, Square Tires, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP: Robinson and the Weiher Racing team will be idle the next couple of weeks before resuming their SCCT slate on May 13th and 14th in Tulare, CA and Hanford, CA.
