PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing during both nights of the Howard Kaeding Classic over the weekend at Ocean Speedway, Justin Sanders would finish ninth in 360 action on Friday night before recording a fourth place finish with the King of the West Series on Saturday night.

“Friday was a little frustrating,” Justin Sanders said. “I haven’t been that bad there in a long time, but we went to work for Saturday’s KWS show and ran a ton better.”

Clawing his way to a Top-10 by way of his ninth place finish with the Ocean Sprints on Friday night aboard the JSR No. 17 machine, Sanders dusted the potent No. 121 off to go to work with the KWS on Saturday night.

Going out late to time in, the Aromas, CA pilot would get all he could out of his North County Plastering/Andy’s Construction/Yuba Sutter Aviation backed machine as he ended up eighth on the speed charts.

Working his way up to a second place finish in heat race action, Sanders would miss out on a berth into the all important Dash by just one marker, and it would put him ninth on the starting grid for the 30-lap HK Classic feature event.

On a racy Ocean Speedway, Sanders used the countless laps he has turned there over the years to his advantage as he methodically worked his way forward and reeled in the lead pack.

Getting into fourth, Sanders would actually get into third on a restart but another caution would negate his efforts and put him back into fourth. Battling with Willie Croft late in the race for the final spot on the podium, Sanders would be unable to make any of his pass attempts stick as he capped the night off with a nice charge up for fourth.

“It was a busy weekend, and I have to thank everyone that helps me out on both of these cars,” Sanders said. “Great to fight back from a tough Friday night and run fourth on Saturday.”

Justin and his team would like to thank North County Plastering, Andy’s Construction, Yuba Sutter Aviation, Roadside 24hr Service, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2019.

ON TAP:Sanders is slated to return to Ocean Speedway on Friday night in his personal car before heading to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to reunite with Dale Miller Motorsports.
