Sanders Nets 10th Win Overall in 2021 as He Scores Sixth Win with Miller Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing his winning ways on Saturday night in Chico, CA, Justin Sanders won a thriller over Dominic Scelzi as he picked up the David Tarter Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway, marking his 10th overall triumph of the season and his sixth aboard Dale Miller’s No. 4SA.

“I am absolutely pumped to add the David Tarter Memorial to my resume,” Justin Sanders said. “I can’t say enough about Dale Miller and his team. They gave me another great car on Saturday night, and I knew I had one final shot to get Dominic on that last restart, and it worked out.”

With 61 cars checked in for the third round of Sprint Car Challenge Tour action in Chico, CA, Sanders would time the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed No. 4SA entry in second fastest in his qualifying group.

Racing his way to a win in his heat race, the Aromas, CA driver would move into the Dash where his win would put him on the pole for the 35-lap feature event.

When the race went green, Sanders settled into the second position as he chased after early leader Justyn Cox, before taking over the top spot on the race’s fifth circuit.

Out front, Sanders would look strong but would soon feel pressure in the name of Corey Day and Dominic Scelzi. Leading the next 10-laps, Sanders would see the youngster Day take over the top spot from him on the 14th lap as he stayed right in the mix.

With Day falling out of the top spot under caution on the 16th lap, Dominic Scelzi would then take over the top spot with Sanders continuing to run in second.

While Sanders would give chase, he would keep Scelzi in his crosshairs until a late yellow set up a green-white-checkered finish.

Seeing the green flag, Sanders would dive low as they raced into turns one and two and his pass would still as he took the top spot back over on lap 33. Able to keep Scelzi at bay for the final two circuits, Sanders would pick up his 10th win of the season, his sixth with Dale Miller Motorsports, and his first with the SCCT.

Friday night the team was also in action as they took part in a Friday night event also hosted by Silver Dollar Speedway.

Lining up 15th in the ‘A’, Sanders would still show speed as he clawed his way through the field. Able to use restarts to his advantage, Sanders would turn in a very hard charge as he worked his way to a fourth-place finish at the stripe against another stout field of 61 cars.

“Overall, it was a really good weekend for our team,” Sanders said. “It was a loaded field and on Friday night we charged from 15th to fourth, and then to get another win is just great. It has been a pretty awesome start to the year, and we will hopefully keep it rolling.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 8, Wins- 6, Top-5’s-7, Top-10’s-7

ON TAP: Sanders and Dale Miller Motorsports will be back to work on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
