PETERSEN MEDIA- Finally getting back to King of the West action for the first time since the Louie Vermeil Classic, Dominic Scelzi and the Roth Motorsports team didn’t miss a beat as Scelzi picked up the team’s fifth series win of the season as he pulled within just eight markers of the point lead with two events remaining.

“Our car felt great all night long,” Dominic Scelzi said. “The track was slick early in the night, but as things progressed they got some moisture into the surface and we got better. Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for supplying us with the tools to win, and thanks to my guys for giving me a fast machine.”

Making his second and final start of the season at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, CA, Scelzi would time the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. backed No. 83 in sixth quickest in time trials.

Winning his heat race from his front row starting position, Scelzi would tabulate enough points for a spot in the Dash, where he would again find himself on the front row.

Getting the jump, Scelzi would take a liking to the middle grove of the speedway where he would take advantage of some moisture and pick up the win and earn the pole for the 30-lap feature event as he looked to cap the season sweep at the facility.

When the feature came to life, Scelzi would run side by side with Willie Croft for the first lap of the feature event before cleaning him on the exit of four in the first lap and really never looking back.

Out front, it was all about the Fresno, CA product as he set a torrid pace on the 3/8 mile facility. Hitting his marks lap after lap, Scelzi would wire the field and pick up his fifth KWS win of the season, and seventh overall by a margin of over four seconds.

“It felt great to get back in the Roth Motorsports car and grab another win and get a little closer to the point lead,” Scelzi said. “It is crunch time, and we have two races left at a couple of tracks that I am really confident at so I hope we can pull this off for the Roth Family.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support in 2019.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 28, Wins: 7, Top 5’s: 19, Top 10’s: 23.
