Sean Becker 11th at Wild Asparagus Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA- Finally able to get back to racing action after unsettled weather in CA the last few weeks, Sean Becker and Bjork Motorsports battled with the NARC series on Saturday in Stockton, CA where ‘The Shark’ survived another wild feature event to tally an 11th place finish.

“I made a slight mistake in qualifying, but I thought we were going to pick up a heat race win and salvage the night but an untimely yellow kind of changed the complexion of the night,” Sean Becker said.

Timing the Bjork Motorsports backed No. 7B in eighth fastest in qualifying time trials, Becker lined up in the second row of his heat race. Jumping into third when the race went green, Becker figured the bottom groove out quickly and jumped into second and quickly began pressuring Willie Croft for the top spot. Getting under Croft on back to back laps, Becker looked to be ready to inch ahead and take the lead, but a caution flag paused the action and changed his night.

The double file restart put Becker on the outside and he slipped back to a fourth place finish which put him 16th on the starting grid in the feature event.

When the scheduled 30-lap feature event came to life, Becker tip-toed around the tight confines of the speedway as he looked to keep his nose clean and patiently work his way forward.

Slipping back to 16th early in the show as the chaos began, Becker was mired in traffic until a multi car wreck moved him into 12th on the 11th lap.

With a little more room to work  now up in 12th, Becker was able to make a little progress as he worked his way into 10th, but another restart doomed him as he was on the outside and dropped back to 13th when the action resumed.

Running in 13th, Becker worked his way into 12th, and then 11th before the final red flag of the night flew on the 28th lap and the race was then deemed complete.

“After how I felt in our heat, I was confident heading into the feature, but we just struggled in the feature,” Becker said. “It was really tough to make anything happen, so we took what we could, and did our best to keep it in one piece.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 1, Top-10’s- 3
