Sean Becker Ready To Put Tough Gold Cup Behind Him

HG7A2542

PETERSEN MEDIA- Running well at the Silver Dollar Speedway in the weeks leading up to the 64th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions, Sean Becker had a rough two nights with the World of Outlaws, but it poised to finish out the season strong.

“I truly want to thank Dan, Brian, and Taylor for never giving up,” Sean Becker said. “We did everything within our power to find any kind of speed, and I am grateful we were able to race into the Saturday night feature event.”

Taking part in the World of Outlaws portion of the Gold Cup Race of Champions, Becker and company checked into the speedway on Friday night. Timing the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay, Inc. No. 75 in 19th quickest in his time trial flight, Becker and company found themselves in a tough position.

Starting and finishing 10th in his heat race, Becker would move into the ‘C’, main where he would end a very frustrating night with a fifth place finish.

Going to work all day Saturday, Becker and the Menne Motorsports team returned to the track looking to redeem themselves, and they got off to a much better start as they timed in 10th quickest on a track that was extremely fast and gaining speed.

Gridding the field from the third row in heat race action, Becker would pocket a fifth place finish and safely punch his ticket into the 40-lap Gold Cup Race of Champions feature event where he would take the green flag from the 20th starting position.

The track surface would continue to be extremely fast in the feature event, and passing would prove to be difficult for most of the field. With the leaders catching the back of the pack quickly, Becker would ultimately decide to pull off when he went a lap down as he was credited with a 24th place finish.

“This team deserves a better finish at this race, and hopefully next year we can be up there,” Becker added. “We can’t dwell on it too much because we have some big races still to come.”

Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, K&N, Pioneer Auto Body, and The Joie of Seating for their support in 2017.
