PETERSEN MEDIA: Sneaking in one final race this summer before an extended King of the West Series break, Sean Watts looked to build off of a solid night in Watsonville, CA a week ago but it would not go as he hoped and he came away with a 14th place finish.

“It was just a so-so night,” Watts said. “Placerville is a tricky place for me, and Saturday night I really couldn’t do much of anything.”

With 27 cars on hand, Watts would get off to a bit of a tough start as he timed the Grizzly Coolers/Schaeffer Racing Oil/Rolfe Construction entry in 22rd quickest in time trials.

In an early hole, the Atwater, CA driver was able to make up a ton of ground in his heat race as he carved his way up to a transfer position. Finishing fifth from the back, Watts would move into the 30-lap feature event though he would grid the field from the 17th starting position.

With the bottom being extremely good in the race’s early goings, Watts would be stuck near the back of the pack, as passing would prove to be difficult initially. As the laps clicked off, the track would open up a little and guys could start to move around towards the end of a quick non-stop 20-lap green-flag run.

Able to work his way up using a couple of late restarts, Watts would manage to essentially end his summer with a 14th place finish.

“We have quite a break ahead of us, and we were hoping to end our Summer on a high note,” Watts noted. “The last few weeks have been good overall and I have to thank everyone that sticks with me and keeps at it. We will go to work with some time off and hopefully come out in September and be even better.”

Sean and the Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports team would like to thank Grizzly Coolers, Schaeffer Racing Oil, Rolfe Construction, Billet America, Darrel Varni Electric, Kaeding Performance, Shannon Pumps, Stealth Homes, Tee’s and Tops, Team Simpson, Kistler Racing Engines, and Stan Yockey Motorsports for their continued support.
