Shane Golobic Wires Field For Third King of the West Series Win

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night in Petaluma, CA Shane Golobic and Tarlton Motorsports returned to their winning ways as Golobic led all 30-laps to score his third King of the West feature event win of the 2018 season giving him 10 for his career putting him in a tie for 12th all time with Sean Becker and Tommy Tarlton.

“It was great to get this Tarlton Motorsports team back in victory lane where it belongs,” Shane Golobic said. “We have been so consistent all year long, and I have felt like I just made some mistakes that held us out of the top spot so this feels really good.”

After timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino backed No. 21x entry in seventh quick; the rest of the night was simply dominated by the Fremont, CA product.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Golobic would jump out front early on the unusually slick Petaluma Speedway surface. Wiring the field, Golobic made the Executive Auto Sales/Yokut Gas/Pabco Gypsum entry Dash eligible and a little luck would see him line up on the front row of that as well.

When the green flag was displayed to the field, Golobic would continue to flex his muscle on the black Petaluma Speedway adobe surface as he would lead all six-laps and put the Tarlton Motorsports entry on the pole for the 30-lap feature event.

Opting to take the outside line with the way the track surface was leading up to the feature event, the race’s initial start would see Golobic slip back to second, but a multi car pile up in turn two would waive the start off and give Golobic another chance.

The second time would be the charm, and Golobic would get out front early and began setting a torrid pace, though a slew of stoppages would continue to put the field on his rear bumper.

Though stoppages would continue to upset his rhythm, Golboic wouldn’t let it phase him as he continue to lead the way out front while the field jockeyed for position behind him.

An extended green-flag run to end the race would see Golobic encounter slower traffic and it would allow Bud Kaeding to close in on him. In the final laps, Kaeding would poke his nose under Golobic in traffic, but Golobic would prove to be too good on this night and he took the checkered flag first for third time this season with the King of the West Series.

“I really have to give a big thanks for Tom and Tommy Tarlton for having the confidence in me to run their car week after week,” Shane Golobic said. “I also have to thank Paul Baines, and Tyron Tyra for their hard work week after week. They constantly give me a great car, and like I said it feels great to get back in victory lane with them and with all of our partners.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Yokut Gas, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 12, Wins: 3, Top 5’s: 12, Top 10’s: 12.
