PETERSEN MEDIA- Moving into a family owned car in 2019, Shane Hopkins and crew have been getting better and better week-by-week. Though their finish on Saturday night isn’t indicative of the night they had going, Hopkins will look to build off of his first Top-10 of the season moving forward.
“It was a pretty good night for our team from start to finish,” Shane Hopkins said. “After throwing this deal together last minute, it has been pretty cool to see how far we have come in such a little time.”
Hopkins kicked the night off by timing the ARP/ADCO/C&H Veteran Enterprises backed No. 21 machine in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Picking up a fifth place finish in his heat race, the Placerville, CA driver would find himself 11th on the starting grid, with some work to do on a track that was freshly groomed prior to the 25-lap feature event.
Jumping up into the Top-10 as the race came to life, Hopkins would continue to work his way forward on the ¼ mile bullring. Racing into seventh when the caution flew just before the halfway point, Hopkins would work his up into sixth as he searched for a way inside the Top-Five.
A lap 16 restart would not go in Hopkins’ favor as he would be forced up off the racing surface and would give up a ton of track position. Able to get settled back in, Hopkins would pick up a few positions in the final laps as he finished 10th.
“It was a bummer to kind of get the raw end of the deal on a restart but that will happen from time to time,” Hopkins added. “Thanks to everyone that continues to support our race team and help out. Big thanks to my Uncle Brett for helping a bunch this week. Running a family team, anything helps and we are really appreciative of what everyone does to help us get to the track.”
Hopkins would like to thank ARP, ADCO, C&H Veteran Enterprises, Soares Motorsports, Brian Sperry Racing, Capitol ACE Hardware, El Dorado Disposal, High Sierra Industries, Gary Morgan Graphics, Jake Morgan Racing, Johnson Motorsports, MD Builders, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Image Salon and Spa, Axcel Suits, PT Shocks, Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Kyle Johnson Racing, and Petersen Media for their support in 2019.
2019 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-5, Wins-0, Top-5’s-0, Top 10’s-1
