PETERSEN MEDIA- Coming into his own during the Summer months, Fresno, CA driver, Kyler Shaw turned in a strong performance at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night as he picked up 10 positions en route to an eighth place finish.

With 28 cars on hand, Shaw got off to a slower start than he would have liked as he timed his Shaw Structures Unlimited/PM$ Investments/Stan Yockey Motorsports No. 92 machine in 20th fastest in time trials.

Starting in the third row of his heat race, Shaw hooked up in a torrid battle for the fourth spot with Dustin Golobic and Bobby Butler, and the end result was Shaw beating Golobic to the checkered in a drag race, and transferring directly into the feature event.

Lining up in the 18th spot in the feature event, Shaw went to the high-side on the first lap, but after nearly ending his night exiting turn four, Shaw opted to try the bottom of the speedway.

Rolling his wing all the way back for added grip, Shaw worked the bottom brilliantly, as he carved his way through the star-studded Placerville Speedway field.

Getting into the ninth spot as the white flag waived, Shaw was in shouting distance of a pack of cars ahead of him for position, and getting into turn three, Shaw was able to take the eighth spot from Jamie Duff coming to the checkered flag.

“Our night started off a little rough, but we kept at it, and it turned into a nice night,” Shaw said. “We went out early for time trials, and the track continued to get better, and we ended up 20th quick. We got through our heat, and in the feature we just rolled the bottom and picked up spots, and ended up eighth. We got going good towards the end, and with the feature being cut five laps, we were pleased with how far up we were able to move.”

Kyler would like to thank Shaw Structures Unlimited, PM$ Investments, Stan Yockey Motorsports, Pro Signs, 4FourGraphics, F4st Four Media, Borrelo Racing Engines, Uncle Dave’s Ranch, and Sid’s Smokehouse for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-18, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-8.

ON TAP: With the Taco Bravo Sprints taking a week off and the Civil War Series invading Placerville on Saturday night, Shaw and his team are unsure of their plan this weekend, and will make an announcement when they make a decision.
