PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action with the King of the West Series, Jarrett Soares and his team made the trip to the Stockton Dirt Track to take part in the Jimmy Sills Classic and Soares would end his night with a 14th place finish.
“We timed in well, and then I just made too many mistakes in the feature event,” Jarrett Soares said.
Timing his American Tool & Mfg./C&H Veteran Enterprises/Performance Powder Coating backed No. 12 machine in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials, the Discovery Bay, CA driver would pick up a fourth place finish in his heat race.
Gridding the field from the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event on a slicked off Stockton Dirt Track surface, Soares would get out of shape on the fourth lap and it would result in the caution flag flying, forcing Soares to the rear of the field.
From the back of the pack, Soares was able to get his machine moving forward as he slowly picked up positions as he worked his way towards the Top-10. As Soares continued to work around the slick Stockton Dirt Track 3/8 facility, rubber would start going down on the lower part of the speedway.
Finding it with the rest of the field, Soares would find himself in the 14th spot as passing began less and less as the race drew to a close. Holding his spot, Soares would close the night out by taking the checkered flag in the 14th spot.
“I really have to thank Brian Sperry, and my dad for all they do for me,” Soares added. “If I could just stop making mistakes I think I could get us a Top-10 finish, and that’s really my goal for this weekend.”
