PETERSEN MEDIA: A busy month of July for Steven Tiner kicked off on Saturday night as he scored his first win of the 2017 season at Placerville Speedway.

“We had a really busy weekend of racing, and fortunately we were able to kick it off on Saturday night and pick up our first win of the season,” Steven Tiner said.

Kicking a four day- four race unofficial Speedweek off on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Tiner would get things started by timing in 15th fastest in qualifying time trials aboard the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious machine.

Starting on the front row of his heat race, Tiner would pick up the win, which would be key on this night as it would lock him into the feature event, but also into the top-eight redraw.

Finding himself on the front row for the 25-lap affair, Tiner would jump out to the early lead as he paced the field for the first four laps before being passed on lap five.

A lap 18 double-file restart would be a changing point in the race. As the field raced into turns one and two contact between the two leaders would ensue, and TIner would be able to stay under power as he continued on and took over the race lead.

Out in front, Tiner would flex his muscle, as he would pace the final seven laps and race his way to his first win of the season.

Sunday and Monday would see Tiner in action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour for a pair of events. Failing to transfer into the feature event in Stockton, CA on Sunday night, Monday night would see Tiner race into the feature event by way of a third place finish in his heat race.

Tiner’s night would end a little rough however as a lap 12 restart would see contact get him upside down and over the turn four wall.

Able to walk away from the wreckage, Tiner would return to Placerville Speedway on Tuesday night for a 4th of July tilt at the ¼ mile bullring.

Qualifying 10th, Tiner would put his Powder Coat-It/SRP/Willwood backed No. 94 machine in the feature event where he gridded the field from the 11th starting spot.

On a slick Placerville Speedway racing surface, Tiner came alive in the feature event as he got moving forward. Making some swift moves on the ¼ mile, Tiner would cap a busy weekend with a fourth place finish.

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-18, Wins-1, Top 5’s-5, Top 10’s-8

ON TAP: Tiner will be at the Placerville Speedway again on Saturday night.
