PETERSEN MEDIA: Following the Sprint Car Challenge Tour up Highway 80 on Saturday night, Steven Tiner would come home with a sixth place finish during the series’ 10th event of it’s inaugural season.

“It was kind of a crap shoot all night long,” Steven Tiner said. “We weren’t sure what the weather was going to do, and track officials did what they could with the surface all night long, so you really had to pay attention and stay on top of it.”

Fighting some engine issues early in the night, Tiner would still manage to time the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed No. 94 entry in fourth quickest in his qualifying group.

A front row starting position in heat race action would be good for Tiner, as he would run second and move into the Dash, which would be key on this night as track position would prove to be huge.

Pulling the seven pill in the Dash draw, Tiner would finish eighth which placed him in the fourth row for the 35-lap feature event.

On the dry slick surface, much of the field would work the bottom groove of the speedway during the feature event. Tiner would follow suit as he battled with the likes of Willie Croft and Ryan Bernal.

During a 33-lap green flag run, Tiner would run in the seventh position as he chased after Willie Croft who ran just ahead of him. Getting into traffic, Tiner would close in on his competitor but would not have an opening.

A double-file restart with two to go would work to Tiner’s advantage as he would restart in the low groove, and pick up a position as he would go on to take the checkered flag in the sixth spot.

“We were able to move through traffic and go forward, so to do that is a good thing,” Tiner said. “We had pretty good speed most of the night with a couple of hiccups, but all in all it ended up well for our team.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-27, Wins-2, Top 5’s-10, Top 10’s-17

ON TAP: Tiner will return to action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA for the Tribute to Al Hinds.
