PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in his first ever Indiana Midget Week, Tanner Carrick would put together a solid week that culminated in him finishing 11th in the overall standings after racing his way into every feature event.

“It is a tough week, and I really thank everyone involved with this team for all of their hard work,” Tanner Carrick said. “I am lucky to have some great teammates that helped me through the week, and I learned a ton from them.”

Kicking this off in Montpellier, IN, Carrick would open his first Indiana Midget Week by timing the TRD/Curb Records/IPC backed machine in 10th quickest in time trials before picking up his first heat race win of the week.

Moving into the opening night feature event, Carrick would get into early trouble as an early spin would set the Lincoln, CA driver back. Able to rebound and work his way back forward, Carrick would take the checkered flag with a 12th place finish.

Heading on to Gas City, IN to attack the I-69 Speedway, Carrick with time the Keith Kunz Motorsports machine in 13th fastest in time trials. In a hotly contested heat race, Carrick would run fourth in his heat behind his KKM teammate, Kyle Larson, and move directly into the feature event. Battling with the likes of Shane Golobic, Ronnie Gardner, and Alex Bright in the feature, Carrick would again look impressive as he notched a 10th place finish.

Thursday night would see the USAC National Midget Series check into Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN. Timing the potent Cemex/CVC/Toyota Racing Development No. 71k entry in 14th fastest in time trials, Carrick would again capture the win during heat race competition.

Lining up 11th in the feature event, Carrick would undoubtedly have the toughest nice of his week as getting caught up in a wreck would see him get credited with a 16th place finish.

As the week turned into the weekend, Friday night brought Carrick and company to the lightning fast Bloomington Speedway. Getting off to a tough start in time trials, the Californian would time in 23rd fastest, but would bounce back as he picked up the win during his heat race.

Moving to the feature, Carrick would grid the field from the 22nd starting spot on a surface that was tough to move around on. Doing what he could on an extremely narrow surface, Carrick would pick up a few positions as he finished 19th on this night.

Saturday night got off to a great start for the Rookie driver at Lawrenceburg Speedway as he topped the speed charts in qualifying time trials and earned the fast time award.

Failing to get out of his heat race for the first time of the week, Carrick would take a trip to the night’s ‘B’ main where he would pick up the win and move into the feature event.

On the sometimes intimidating Lawrenceburg Speedway, Carrick would take part in some great battles that saw several cars swap spots in each pair of corners in a display or hard nosed racing. When the dust settled on the exciting race, Carrick came home in the 11th spot.

The six-race speedweek would come to a head on Sunday night at the famed Kokomo Speedway. Timing in ninth fastest at one of the states most popular facilities, Carrick would run fourth in his heat race before closing his first shot at Indiana Midget Week with a 12th place finish in the feature event.

When the points were tallied for the grueling week, Carrick would end up 11th in the final IMW standings.

“Looking back at the week I would say it was a good first go at it considering how strong and deep the fields were every night,” Carrick added. “I definitely got better as each night went on, and am looking forward to two more nights this week. Again, our KKM team runs a lot of cars out of our stable, and a huge goes out to this team for everything they do.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick and the KKM team will head east this weekend as they will compete at Williams Grove Speedway on Thursday and Friday night.
