Tarlton Motorsports Set for Big 2023 Season

PETERSEN MEDIA- A staple in the California racing scene over the course of the last decade, Tarlton Motorsports will expand their schedule in 2023 as they will run a ‘True Outlaw’ slate with Cole Macedo behind the wheel. Not only will the schedule change in ‘23, but the notorious look of the Tarlton No. 21 will also change as the team welcomes Sean Dyson and Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions aboard as their newest marketing partner.

“I think this year is going to be awesome, and I am extremely thankful that Tom and Tommy Tarlton have presented me with such a great opportunity to return to the seat of the famed No. 21,” Cole Macedo said. “I really wasn’t expecting to get back in the Tarlton No. 21 seat on a fulltime basis, but with the schedule they put together, and with the support of the Ray Brooks Racing No. 18 team, it was very hard not accept the offer. I am excited to race with two of my good buddies in Drew Warner and Shane Watts, and I know that they have put in a ton of work to make sure we are prepared to run up and down the road. I also want to thank the Dyson's for coming on board and really making this whole deal possible. I'm looking forward to representing them, the Tarlton's, and all of our partners this year!"

When things come to life in California in March, Macedo and Tarlton Motorsports will run a very busy slate at home before Macedo takes off to Ohio to compete with the Ray Brooks Racing team in April and May. While Macedo is out, Tarlton Motorsports will take a ‘driver by committee’ approach and fill in races at home with various drivers who have yet to be named at this time.

In June, things ramp back up with Macedo as he will rejoin Tarlton Motorsports at Skagit Speedway as the team will take part in Super Dirt Cup, and then their schedule looks very different than it has in years past.

Led by Crew Chief Drew Warner, Tarlton Motorsports will head East and compete at some marquee events that include the Kings Royal, the Eldora Million, The Knoxville Nationals and possibly the Knoxville 360 Nationals to go along with other World of Outlaws and High Limit Series events.

From August through September, the team will follow the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car series back West before they end their season in the traditional marquee events that have grown in California over the course of September and October. In all Macedo and company will run roughly a 50-race slate.

With the expanding schedule in 2023 also comes some added sponsor help as longtime Tarlton Motorsports friend, Sean Dyson, has come aboard with his two companies, Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions and Empire Machinery.

Dyson and Tommy Tarlton have had a long-standing relationship for the past seven years, but 2023 will mark the first time he has come on in support of the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 car.

“I have had the chance to get to know Tommy Tarlton over the last seven years, and we have built a great friendship,” Sean Dyson said. “I am extremely excited to support his race team in 2023, and I am excited to see what Cole Macedo can do after having a breakout season in 2022.”

As previously stated, Drew Warner returns to the team in 2023 after taking over Crew Chief duties in 2022, and is as eager for the new challenge that lies ahead.

“I am super excited for this opportunity, and I am really happy to see Cole Macedo get another shot in the Tarlton car,” Drew Warner said. ‘I have to utmost respect for Tommy Taron and Sean Dyson, so it is very cool to have them come together and lead our team. Both do so much for racing in the United States in Australia, so this will be cool to have them working together, and I am thankful to be a part of it. It is cool to be able to carry on the legacy that Tom Tarlton built and I hope we can do the entire family proud.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 0, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 0, Top 10’s: 0.
