‘The Shark’ Second During Reunion with Van Lare Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of the Van Lare Motorsports No. 5v for the first time since mid-March on Saturday night, the team picked up right where they left off and recorded their third consecutive podium finish by way of a second place finish at Marysville Raceway.

“Jim and Annette Van Lare brought out a new car, and we got better every time we hit the track,” Sean Becker said. “Unfortunately, I drew a bad pill of the feature lineup, and I didn’t do a good enough job racing through the field.”

Climbing aboard the potent Van Lare Motorsports entry for the first time since his runner up finish during March’s Silver Cup, Becker continued to show speed with his new team in 2020 as he got the night started by timing the Pro Aggregate/All About Fire Protection/Bianchi Farms backed entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Moving into heat race action on the rough and tumble speedway, ‘The Shark’ was on the prowl as he ate up the competition from his second row starting position and earned a second place finish.

With two’s the norm of the night up to date, Becker moved into the redraw where he looked to possibly keep the deuces wild. For Becker, that would not be the case as the vaunted eight pill placed him the fourth row.

With a very strong entry underneath him, Becker would begin his pursuit through the field. With the track offering some challenges, Becker was methodical in his moves and was unable to get to the front as fast as he would have liked

Still battling hard, Becker would get into the top five, and chase after and battle the likes of Tanner Carrick, Jodie Robinson, and Blake Carrick.

Getting into second, Becker would close in on leader Ryan Robinson as he seemed to get stronger as the laps wound down. Turning his fastest lap of the race on lap 24, Becker would fall just short of his first win of the year, but picked up his second consecutive runner-up finish with the team.

“We definitely had the car to win, but I just ran out of time and we came up a spot short,” Becker added. “It feels so good to be racing again, and to be able to see and connect back with everyone from the racing community. Hopefully we can get back to that on the regular.”

Becker and Van Lare Motorsports would like ot thank Pro Aggregate, All About Fire Protection, Bianchi Farms, Shark Racing Engines, CCI, Van Lare Steering Repair, and Triple X Race Co. for their support in 2020.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 3
