Third Place Finish Highlights Justin Sanders’ Thunder Through the Plains

PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to venture off in the Midwest, Justin Sanders and Larry Antaya Motorsports took part in the eight-race Thunder Through the Plains with the All Star Circuit of Champions over the last 11-days and came home with a couple of nice finishes including a third place run on Sunday night.

“It was definitely a long, tough stretch of race,” Justin Sanders said. “It was definitely humbling, and when you are racing with that caliber of drivers you really have to be on your game and have to limit your mistakes.

Hitting eight races at eight different tracks through Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, all new to Sanders, the Aromas, CA driver would take his lumps, but would also make gains as the week moved along.

Following an opening night rainout at Lawton Speedway, Sanders would be credited with an 18th place finish at Red Dirt Raceway. Heading to Outlaw Motor Speedway on the sixth, Mother Nature would again intervene and postpone a second race on the swing.

A 20th place finish at 81 Speedway on a rubber down surface, saw the scene then shift back to Lawton Speedway to make up the opener that succumb to rain. Running inside the Top-10 at Lawton, issues with Sanders’ mag would force him to retire early and give him a DNF.

Trying again at Outlaw Motor Speedway, Mother Nature would again intervene for the second time at this facility as a windstorm would cancel the event as the scene then shifted to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Texas where Sanders finished 18th at the iconic facility.

As the Thunder Through the Plains began to wind down, Sanders would start to pick it up. At Southern Oklahoma Speedway, Sanders charged from 11th to finish 5th, he would finish 14th at Monarch Motor Speedway, before a fourth place finish at Lonestar Speedway and a third place run at Chatham Speedway.

“We kept at it, and really got going towards the end of the swing,’ Sanders said. “Thanks to everyone that makes this all possible.”

Justin and Larry Antaya Motorsports would like to thank Fire Protection Management, Alkaline 88, North County Plastering, Roadside 24 Hour Service, Wicked Cushion, FK Rod Ends, DMI, Triple X Race Co., Walker Filtration, FK Shocks, and Wings Unlimited for their support in 2020.
