Tim Kaeding Races Well With World of Outlaws in North Dakota Swing

PETERSEN MEDIA- Tim Kaeding and the Lunstra Motorsports team followed the World of Outlaws to North Dakota for three nights of racing last weekend. Admittedly struggling to get timed in well early in the night, Kaeding and company were able to move forward in all three feature events.

“We really had to work hard to get into all three feature events,” Tim Kaeding said. “We weren’t able to qualify very well, but I thought by the end of the night we had a pretty good car. We just need to continue to work on putting together complete nights.”

The three-race weekend kicked off on Friday night in Grand Forks, ND. With a large car count on hand split qualifying was in place, and TK would time the Folkens bros. Trucking/Dammer Trucking/East River Homes No. 3 machine in ninth fastest in his flight.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, a fifth place finish would be good enough to move him into the feature event, though he would line up in the 18th starting position. On the high banked bullring, Kaeding would find himself battling for 16th early in the race as a three car race saw all three drivers mixing it up.

Getting up as high as 12th during the 40-lap affair, Kaeding would continue to battle all night, as he took the checkered flag with a 14th place finish.

Following the “Greatest Show on Dirt” to Fargo, ND on Saturday night, Kaeding and company checked in at Red River Valley Speedway where the San Jose, CA native timed in 21st fastest.

Finishing seventh in his heat race, TK would be forced into the semi where fourth place finish would move him into the 30-lap feature event where he would grid the field from the 22nd starting position.

Using a great start to the race, Kaeding would use a full head of steam to work into the 16th spot on the race’s first lap. Battling with the likes of Ian Madsen and David Gravel in the early goings, Kaeding would take over the 14th spot on lap five, and run there for the next 25-laps as he earned KSE Hard Charger honors for his efforts.

Sunday night’s visit to NoDak Speedway in Minot, ND marked the end of the three night tour. Again timing in 21st quickest in time trials, Kaeding would successfully transfer through his heat race as he finished in the sixth position.

Lining up in the 18th starting position, Kaeding would again work hard to move the Lunstra Motosports entry forward as he took the checkered flag with a 12th place finish.

“It’s extremely hard to start in the back of the pack with these guys and race forward,” Tim Kaeding said. “Like I said, we just need to work hard on getting our night started off on the right foot so we can focus on racing with them rather than being focused on playing catch up.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, East River Homes, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Kaeding and Lunstra Motorsports will follow the World of Outlaws to Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, SD on Friday night.
