PETERSEN MEDIA: Fighting back from an early fluke incident during Saturday night’s feature event in Stockton, CA, Steven Tiner would make the best of a tough situation as he finished in the 11th spot.

“Our result isn’t where we want it, but it was one of our better nights of the year I feel,” Steven Tiner said. “We had a body panel fly off at the start of the race while running up front that forced me to stop and tag the back of the field. It was our nose piece so it made our car a handful for much of the race, but we held on and finished 11th.”

Getting off to a strong start with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night, Tiner timed his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed machine in third fastest in his qualifying group.

Coming away with a win in his heat race after a torrid battle up front, Tiner would advance to the night’s Dash where he would line up on the front row for the six-lap showdown.

Out dueling Justin Sanders for the win, Tiner would earn the right to lead the field to green for the 35-lap feature event. Not getting the jump when the race came to life, Tiner would battle back in the third spot for the opening handful of laps before getting a face full of body panel.

With his nose piece dislodged and wedged in his sun visor, Tiner would be forced to bring his machine to a stop to remove the debris. Restarting from the back of pack, Tiner would do what he could to keep his front end on the ground with the lack of body panel making his car a bit of a handful.

As the race progressed, Tiner would slowly work his way forward and also take advantage of some other driver’s issues. Doing all he could, the Visalia, CA driver would end his night with an 11th place finish.

“It was definitely a step in the right direction, and really has me looking forward to this weekend,” Tiner said. “It has been a work in progress thus far, but I think we getting where we need to be.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP: Tiner will now set his sights on Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
