PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting two nights of racing in over the weekend, Steven Tiner’s finishes were not indicative of just how good the Visalia, CA driver was in Hanford, CA and Placerville, CA.

“It has been quite an improvement for our team the last couple of weeks, and this past weekend we had really good racecars and should have had even better finishes,” Tiner said. “Friday night I messed up a late restart running third, and Saturday night we got caught up in an early incident running in the second spot.”

Taking part in a King of Kings event on Friday night in Hanford, CA, Tiner opened the night up by timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious No. 94 car in third quickest in qualifying time trials.

Running second in his heat race, Tiner would move into the six-lap Dash where an eighth place finish would place his car in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event.  A slick and wide Keller Auto Speedway surface would be prone for passing, and Tiner would work his way forward.

With three stoppages in the race’s first 11-laps slowing the early pace, Tiner would find himself in the sixth spot before the race got into a 17-lap green flag run.

Working the top side of the speedway, Tiner would run up front as he would get up into the third spot by the time the final yellow flag flew on the 28th lap. The final restart of the night would see Tiner get up over a thick cushion in turns one and two and lose a couple of positions before he could get gathered up.

Once he was able to get back on it, he had fallen back to the sixth position and that is where he would end up finishing.

Making the long tow north on Saturday, Tiner and his Steven Tiner Racing team would check in for battle at Placerville Speedway. Timing in 13th quickest in qualifying time trials, the Visalia, CA based driver would pick up the win in his heat race and advance into the nightly redraw.

Pulling the foul pill, Tiner would line the Fisher Racing Engines/SRP/Powder Coat-It backed entry up in the second row for the 25-lap ‘A’.

On an unusually rough Placerville Speedway in parts to some late week June rain, Tiner would get off to a good start as he would race his way into the second spot.

An early restart would throw a wrench into the night though as contact would get him out of shape and would result in him falling back to the 19th spot as the field was able to avoid the mishap and the green flag continued to fly.

With his work now cut out for him, Tiner would go to work on the tricky ¼ mile speedway.

With a good car under him, he would pick up several spots in his pursuit back to the front, as he would make it back up to 11th when the checkered flag flew.

“We would have liked to have finished up front where we were running both night’s, but we will take the positives from the weekend and move on to Antioch Speedway with the SCCT on Saturday night,” Tiner added.

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-12, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-5

ON TAP: Tiner will be in action with the SCCT on Saturday night in Antioch, CA.
