PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the delayed Knoxville Raceway season opener, Tim Kaeding would come back from a mid race spin and finish in the 16th spot on Saturday night.

“It wasn’t our best night,” Tim Kaeding said. “We didn’t qualify very well and then I made a mistake a spun out running in the Top-10 before the track took rubber and we ended up finishing 16th.”

With 22 cars in the pit area for the Knoxville Raceway season opening event, Kaeding would time in 15th fastest on the extremely slick ½ mile speedway during time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Kaeding would get the jump over Matt Juhl as he would lead all eight laps to grab the win aboard the Folkens Bros. Trucking/Dammer Trucking/Mihm Trucking backed No. 3 car.

Moving into the feature event, the San Jose, CA driver would line up in the fourth row for the 20-lap feature event. With the speedway still slick and abrasive, Kaeding would run inside the Top-10 during the opening laps of the race. Running in the 10th spot, Kaeding would lose the handle on his machine and come to a stop on the eighth lap and go to the rear of the field.

The Knoxville Raceway would soon start to take rubber, and the San Jose, CA driver would be stuck in the back of the pack as he would bring the Yager Ag Supply/Matt’s Repair/East River Homes entry home with a 16th place finish.

“I have to thank Lunstra Motorsports for everything they continue to do for me,” Kaeding said. “I am lucky to be in the spot I am in, and we will go to work this week and hopefully be better this weekend.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, East River Homes, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2017.
