PETERSEN MEDIA- Tony Gualda and C&M Motorsports had a great car on Saturday night, but unfortunately throttle issues in the feature event would make things a little tough on Gualda but the Hollister, CA driver still managed to record a 10th place finish at Petaluma Speedway.
“We had an awesome racecar on Saturday night, unfortunately we had some throttle issues in the feature event that kind of changed the complexion of our night,” Tony Gualda said.
Kicking Saturday night off by timing the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine in fastest overall in time trials, Gualda would advance from fourth to finish second in his heat race.
Based on his qualifying time and his heat race result, the youngster from Hollister, CA would move into the Dash where he would grid the field from the fifth starting position.
During the Dash, Gualda would feel his throttle hang wide open. Despite the tense moment, he would do a great job getting his car shut off before anything bad could happen.
Being scored eighth in the Dash, Gualda would move into the 35-lap feature event where he would line up in the fourth row on the always-tricky Petaluma Speedway. Making some swift moves in the opening laps, Gualda would crack the Top-Five and ran fourth before the red flag flew over the speedway and stopped the race.
When cars were pushed back off, Gualda would feel his throttle have issues again, though it wasn’t nearly as drastic as it was during the Dash. Forced to manually bring his throttle up to lift, Gualda would have his hands full at times as he continued to fight inside the Top-10.
Doing a great job of managing a finicky throttle pedal, Gualda would go on to salvage his night with a 10th place finish.
“I have to thank Cody, Mandi, Rich, and MF for all their continued hard work,” Gualda said. “We are really fast night in and night out, and are really focused on being consistent. I think we are knocking on the door to our first win of the season, and I look forward to getting back to Placerville Saturday after the speed we had up there a couple of weeks ago.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
ON TAP: C&M Motorsports and Tony Gualda will be right back to it on Saturday night as they are set to return to Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-3.
