PETERSEN MEDIA- Making only his second appearance at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA, Tony Gualda raced his way to a seventh place finish on Saturday night during the Cotton Classic aboard the potent C&M Motorsports No. 7C.

“It was a pretty good run, I thought,” Tony Gualda said. “It was only my second time running in Hanford, CA and we did some good things and it has me really looking forward to Trophy Cup this weekend.”

Taking part in the 33rd Annual Cotton Classic on Saturday night, Gualda got the party started by timing the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine in fourth quickest in his qualifying time trials group.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race on a very hooked up and heavy racing surface, Gualda would lose the drag race into turn one but still would finish second and move directly into the 30-lap Cotton Classic feature event.

Taking the Cotton Classic green flag from the fifth row, Gualda would not have the start he was looking for as he would initially fall all the way back to the 12th position. Staying patient, Gualda’s machine would come to life and he would start making moves, as he would soon find himself up in the seventh position.

A restart saw Gualda make a nice move to occupy fifth on the running order, but the yellow flag would be needed and his pass would be negated, dropping him back to seventh. Chasing after Kyle Hirst, Willie Croft, and Justyn Cox in the closing laps, Gualda would end up finishing seventh in the 2018 Cotton Classic.

“I was pretty happy with our result and with how things felt all night,” Gualda said. “It was great to get back to racing, and I’m really looking forward to three nights in Tulare, CA this week for the Trophy Cup.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will head back south this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday where they will be in action during the 25th Annual Trophy Cup.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-28, Wins-0, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-15.
