PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading into the Gold Cup Race of Champions, Willie Croft was looking to make some noise for the California locals, unfortunately the Roseville, CA driver would not quite have the showing he was hoping for.

“It was just one of those weekends,’ Croft said. “Wednesday it took rubber and we couldn’t go anywhere, Friday night we just missed the qualifying inversion, and Saturday night we struggled and then got a flat late in the race to top it off.”

Driving for McColloch Motorsports on Wednesday night, Croft would time in 20th fastest, before racing his way from fifth to second in his heat race.

Though he made the feature, Croft would line up in the 16th spot of the feature, with the track on the verge of taking rubber as the race got underway. With nothing going on this night as passing was non-existent for the most part, Croft would finish in the 19th spot.

Climbing aboard his own Willie Croft Racing entry to take on the World of Outlaws, Croft would open the weekend up by timing his Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 machine in 10th fastest.

Qualifying for the feature event by way of his fifth place run in his heat, Croft would line up in the 10th row for the 30-lap A Main. On a the rough and tumble Silver Dollar Speedway, ‘Double Down’ would battle with fellow Californian’s, Mason Moore and Jason Statler as he finished 19th.

Coming back for the Saturday night finale, Croft would time in 12th fastest and wind up seventh in his heat race. Lining up fifth in the Last Chance Showdown, Croft would work his way up to third, and move into the 40-Lap Gold Cup Race of Champions A Main.

A fast surface in the early part of the race would see Croft battle with Jason Sides and DJ Netto in the early goings of the A Main. As the race clicked off laps at a torrid pace, Croft would begin to fight a tire that was going down. Though he would hang on to finish the race, Croft would end up finishing 20th.

“We had higher expectations for sure, but we were able to race our way into both World of Outlaws feature events,” Croft said. “We though we were better than where we finished all week, but we will regroup and look forward to our next race.”

Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, K&N, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, and GUTS for their support in 2015.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-45, Wins-0, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-14.
