PETERSEN MEDIA: A tough couple of weeks for Atwater, CA driver Sean Watts has forced the driver to park his Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports No. 98 machine for a couple of weeks as he regroups and re builds. Having engines issues at the Bradway Memorial, Watts was a roll over victim on Saturday night in Tulare, CA.

“It has been a tough couple of weeks and it is best to regroup, rebuild, and refresh a little,” Sean Watts said. “We hurt an engine at the Bradway and then Saturday night our crash tore up a ton of equipment so unfortunately we are in a tough position. I have to thank everyone who has stood behind me and continued to help all year long.”

Saturday night in Tulare, CA Watts would open his night up by timing the Grizzly Coolers/Schaeffer Racing Oil/Rolfe Construction backed No. 98 entry in 23rd fastest amongst the 34 drivers that had checked into the pit area for the 5th Annual Peter Murphy Classic.

Running sixth in his heat race, Watts would be forced into the ‘B’ Main where he would grid the field from the seventh starting position. On the extremely slick Thunderbowl Raceway surface, Watts would hold his own as it was announced to the drivers that the Top-Seven would be moving into the feature event.

Holding down the seventh position, Watts would hang on to the final transfer position and punch his ticket into the 30-lap feature event where he would line up in the 23rd starting spot.

On a rubber down racing surface, Watts would pick up a couple of positions early but would get in line and hit his marks on the rubber. At the race’s halfway point, contact with a slowing car would send Watts hard into the race track’s exterior wall and then upside down.

Able to climb from the wreckage under his own power, Watts’ night would come to a tough end.

“It was a pretty hard crash, and I hate it for all of my guys because they work extremely hard for me,” Watts added. “Hopefully we can get back to racing sooner than later but we are going to make sure we are fully prepared and ready before we get back to it. Again, thank you to everyone who continues to support me.”

Sean and the Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports team would like to thank Grizzly Coolers, Schaeffer Racing Oil, Rolfe Construction, Billet America, Darrel Varni Electric, Kaeding Performance, Shannon Pumps, Stealth Homes, Tee’s and Tops, Team Simpson, Kistler Racing Engines, and Stan Yockey Motorsports for their continued support.
