Tough Weekend For Blake Carrick

PETERSEN MEDIA: 2021 has been good to Blake Carrick thus far. Though the team continued to showcase a ton of speed over the weekend in Watsonville, CA and Placerville, CA, both feature events were tough on the Lincoln, CA driver has he endured two DNF’s.

“We had really good speed both nights,” Carrick said. “Friday night we were running third when I biked on the rough track and blew our left rear tire off, and on Saturday night I was inside the Top-10 when I got over the cushion and fell off the track and opted to pull into the pits.”

Getting in two more nights of action over the weekend, Carrick kicked his weekend off at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA where he would time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed machine in fourth fastest in time trials on a very heavy and rough surface.

Lining up third in heat race competition, Carrick would not get the jump he had hoped for but was still able to finish fifth, garner a transfer, and earn a Dash berth based on his time trial efforts.

Finishing third in the six lap Dash, Carrick would take the green flag from the inside of the third row for the 30-lap feature event. When the action went green, Carrick settled into third as he chased after older brother, Tanner, who ran ahead of him in second.

Chasing after the leaders on a surface that remained very treacherous, Carrick’s night would come to an end on the 17th lap as he caught a hole wrong, and it results in him blowing his left rear tire off the wheel.

Regrouping from the bad luck and traveling to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s opening event, Carrick would stop the clocks with the fastest lap of the night overall in time trials, before finishing second in his heat race.

Moving into the High Sierra Industries Dash, Carrick would finish eight, placing him in the fourth row for the 35-lap feature event.

With the surface starting to widen out as the race went green, Carrick would hold strong inside the Top-10. Running eighth for the first half of the race, Carrick would get his mount over the cushion in turns one and two and bring out the caution.

Restarting from the back of the pack, Carrick would pick up a few positions until he was lapped on the 24th lap and opted to pull his car back to the pit area.

“Good to have speed, and we will look to keep that speed this weekend at both tracks again, but hopefully put together some better results,” Carrick added.

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
