PETERSEN MEDIA- Bringing the Mason Moore Racing No. 22 entry out on Saturday night in Marysville, CA for the Civil War Sprint Car Series’ opening event, Mason Moore would have a wild night that saw him overcome some adversity and come away with an eighth place finish.

“It was a crazy, crazy night,” Mason Moore said. “We had a good car, but had some wild things happen. In the end we finished eighth and I am still trying to play it all back in my head.”

With 22 cars on hand, Moore kicked the night off by timing the Coors Light/LRB Race Products/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 22 entry in seventh quickest in qualifying time trials which was good enough to put him on the front row of his heat race.

Not getting the jumped he had hoped for, Moore would slip back to the second spot. Trying a different line in turns three and four, Moore would lose some ground and allow third place to close in on him. Some contact between the two would result in Moore getting out of shape but he was still able to hang on a finish fourth.

Finding himself in the fifth row for the 30-lap feature event, Moore would experience some bad luck when cars fired off for the race. Catching a rut wrong, Moore’s left rear would give out and he would be forced to the work area to make repairs.

Lining up for the 20th starting position, Moore would get off to a nice start until getting collected with a couple of his competitors and coming to a stop after contact with the wall.

Again forced to the tail, Moore would continue to fight as he showed off a strong entry underneath him on a very technical track. Able to fight back inside the Top-10, Moore would take the checkered flag with an extremely hard fought eighth place finish.

“Brian Cannon gave me a great car, and I really wish we had the chance to run that race from our original starting position,’ Moore added. “It was good to have that good of a car our first night out, and hopefully we can build off that Friday in Chico.”

Moore would like to thank Coors Light, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, ITC Service Group, Saureel, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.

ON TAP: Mason will be back in action in the MMR 22 Friday night in Chico, CA and will be back aboard the Brian Cannon Motorsports No. 47 on Saturday in Placerville, CA.
