Wild Ride Ends Andy Gregg’s Saturday Night

PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Gregg kicked his 2021 season off on Saturday night as he piloted the Brown Eagle Racing No.01 during the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s season opening event. Amidst a very strong run, Gregg would find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time on lap 28 and it resulted in him taking a wild ride and ending his night.

“It was fun to get back out to Placerville Speedway and get our season started,” Andy Gregg said. “We had a really good night going, but unfortunately cars got together in front of me, and I had nowhere to go and ended up getting upside down.”

With 37 cars on hand for the first SCCT event since the November 2019 finale, Gregg would time his entry in third fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Diamond Springs, CA pilot would finish third on a locked down surface early in the night. By way of his finish, Gregg would transfer directly into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 11th starting spot.

With the track widening out and slicking off in spots leading up to the feature event, Gregg would get his entry rolling forward. Slicing and dicing around the Placerville Speedway, Gregg would find himself up in the eighth spot.

As the laps clicked off, action picked up the race would be mired with caution flags and stoppages. Running inside the Top-10, Gregg’s night would come to an abrupt end on the 28th lap and cars would get together in front of him leaving him with nowhere to go.

Gregg would get upside down and the damage would be far too extensive for his night to continue.

“It was a bummer to end our night like that, but I have to thank Brian Brown and all of the guys for their hard work,” Gregg said. “I am very excited for this coming week as we kick off what will be the final season with our family No. 16x car.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, LAL Motorsports, Crane Inspection Agency, Meyers and Son Drywall, Nail it Roofing, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Aaron Dosh Attorney at Law, Ice House Resort, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, Sierra Ice, Ford’s Only, MF Inc., and Gilly’s Radiator for their support.

ON TAP: Gregg returns to action on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
