Forsberg Finishes Third at Famed Forni Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA- Moving in on his eighth driving championship at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg and the F&F Racing team took another step toward the season long goal as Forsberg extended his point lead on Saturday night with a nice charge from 11th to third during the famed Mark Forni Classic at Placerville Speedway.

“All in all, it was definitely as good of a night as we have had at Placerville to date this year,” Andy Forsberg said. “It was kind of a weird night with the smoke cast, and I think that played with the surface a little.”

Going out late in time trials, Forsberg was able to lay down a strong lap aboard the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine as he timed in seventh fastest amidst the 25 drivers checked in.

Needing a heat race win to qualify for the redraw, Forsberg would give it his all as he chased after young Landon Brooks who ran just ahead of him. Unable to secure the position into the redraw, Forsberg’s second place finish would put him in the 11th starting position for the 25-lap Mark Forni Classic finale.

In the opening laps of the feature event, Forsberg had his elbows up as he sliced and diced his way through, the Top-10. Lap four and five would see Forsberg pick up a couple of positions as Ryan Robinson would have troubles before the next lap saw Justyn Cox and Justin Sanders each have un related troubles as well.

Now up in the seventh position, Forsberg would continue to attack the cushion as he showcased a very good car that let him work the ragged edge at the ¼ mile bullring.

Getting into fourth just before the race’s halfway point, Forsberg would find himself battling hard with the likes of Shane Hopkins and Brooks has they raced wheel-to-wheel.

Getting into third late, Forsberg would close in on the lead duo of Kalib Henry and DJ Netto, but time would run out on his efforts, as he capped the night off with a third-place finish.

“We had a couple of give-me’s in the feature with a couple of really good cars, but I was pleased with our performance,” Forsberg said. “Thanks to F&F, and looking forward to a cool ‘Legends Night’ coming up this weekend.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, PitStopUSA, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2021.
