Mariah Ede Eyes Silver Dollar Fair Race After Tough Weekend with NARC
PETERSEN MEDIA: A forgettable weekend for Mariah Ede has the Fresno, CA runner looking forward to another big week ahead as she heads to Chico, CA to take part in the annual Silver Dollar Fair race.
“Last weekend was definitely wild and crazy,” Mariah Ede said. “Friday night I had brake issues that made things really tricky, and Saturday night I got taken out in our heat race and my team thrashed to get us ready for the feature and we just barely made it. It was eventful, but I am so thankful for everyone’s hard work and never quit attitude.”
Kicking the weekend off Friday night at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA, the Fresno State student timed her Pacific Boring/M&L Plumbing/Circle J5 Ranch backed No. 14 entry in 21st fastest in time trials.
Finishing seventh in her heat race, Ede took the green flag from the 21st starting position on the very slick and technical Ocean Speedway bullring. As the feature event came to life, Ede started to make up ground as she tip toed around the surface as her brakes quickly started giving her issues.
Doing all she could with the finicky brake system giving her grief, Ede hung out as she completely lost brakes and finished 18th in the feature event.
Heading to Tulare, CA on Saturday night for Morrie Williams Tribute event with NARC, Ede timed in 22nd fastest in time trials and lined up in the fourth row of her heat race.
When heat race action went green, Ede endured heavy contact from a fellow competitor that sent her for a wild ride. Though she was okay, her Ede Motorsports entry endured heavy damage.
In an all hands on deck situation, the thrash was on to get Ede’s entry put back together for two impending 20-lap feature events that were coming later in the evening.
Narrowly making getting the car back together, Ede was able to make the call as she rolled off the starting grid from the 24th starting position.
With her car not fully right, she focused on hitting marks and getting more laps in a 410 at the Thunderbowl as he ended the first feature in 21st.
Getting 20 more laps of action in under her belt, Ede again attacked the 1/3 mile high baked track in a beaten and battered car and managed to end her night with a 19th place finish.
“Just super thankful that all of the safety equipment did it’s job, and grateful so many great people helped us get the car as put back together as possible to get more laps in,” Ede added. “We have another busy week ahead and I am hopeful it is not as eventful.”
Mariah Ede and the Mariah Ede Racing team would like to thank Pacific Boring, M&L Plumbing, Circle J5 Ranch, FK Rod Ends, and MetTec Titanium for their support.
